Shenti Rodríguez
Meteoróloga

Shenti Rodríguez joined the WBRC FOX6 News team in November 2023 as the station’s community development liaison and new meteorologist.
Shenti has worked alongside WBRC for the past year as part of the Gray corporate team when Telemundo Alabama was launched in 2022. Shenti shares WBRC’s commitment to serving all the audiences within the local communities the station serves.
The Spanish speaking community is the third largest ethnic group in Birmingham, and the localization of Shenti and Telemundo Alabama will help satisfy the growing appetite for Spanish-language programming, entertainment, national and local news for the communities WBRC serves.
Shenti gained a passion for weather when she was eight years old. In 1998, Puerto Rico was battered by Hurricane Georges, and she experienced first-hand the impacts and damage associated with this storm. At that moment, she knew she wanted to become a meteorologist. In 2012, Shenti earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Puerto Rico. She was crowned Miss Puerto Rico 2013 and competed for the title of Miss America in Atlantic City.
After her year of service as Miss Puerto Rico, she decided to move to Alabama in 2014. Right away, she enrolled in the Broadcast and Operational Meteorology program at Mississippi State University.
Shenti reached a milestone in her career in 2018 when she was offered the Regional Weather Anchor position at Univision Colorado. While in that role, she was able to use her journalistic abilities to work and developed a story, Cicatrices del Frío, which won an Emmy award in 2020. She has worked as a meteorologist in different markets across the nation and joined the Gray Television family in 2022. As a native Spanish speaker, she strives to inform and educate our local Hispanic community about weather preparedness.
When not working, Shenti loves playing, dancing, and enjoying time with her daughter. She is also an active member of Church of the Highlands, where she serves on the events and outreach teams.
